In Chapter 8, a lot of step by step information was given regarding the process of creating a first draft, annotating sources and choosing a genre to compose in. I found all of this information very helpful and will be referring to it frequently while writing my research paper.

The paragraph that explained how to create a rough draft is going to be very useful a I begin to put words onto paper. The idea to actually put quantity over quality sounds absurd at first, but as I read on it made sense. I am going to use the technique of setting a 30-minute timer and continuously writing about whatever is on my mind, not worrying about grammar or a specific genre. I believe using this will be very beneficial.

An eight-step model on how to choose a genre to compose is also something that I will use while writing. Step 1states that revisiting the topic and research question, as well as the rough draft is the best way to start. After revisiting the initial draft, creating a list of five ideas to explore and narrowing it down to one follows. Next, considering the audience, strategizing the use of rhetorical appeals and finally narrowing the choices down to three genres concludes the process. If I use this list to my benefit, my final paper will definitely be better as a result.
