Although perceived as very controversial to many viewers throughout America, Stephen A. Smith has mastered the ability of earning viewers on his ESPN hosted show. After working at several jobs, Stephen A. Smith became a triple threat—a columnist, radio host and tv host.

Stephen A. Smith understood the concept that people no longer watch television to learn news, but they watch to hear people’s opinions and perspectives on specific topics. “First Take” consists of a host (usually a woman) giving a question, and two men debating the topic for about 3 minutes. Stephen A. Smith’s and his co-host Max Kellerman typically hold opposite sides on every headline, creating debates that display their knowledge on a variety of sports topics. Stephen A. Smith’s incredibly strong opinions often seem unreal to many viewers, making them question if his words are authentic.

“First Take” has thrived as being the go-to sports debate show. More debates equal more views. Stephen A. Smith’s ability to argue on any given topic has made him one of the most important assets to ESPN. As Vinson Cunningham asks Stephen A. what helped shape his ideas and his personal business, the response is Donald J. Trump. Before Trump was a politician, he was a guest on “Quite Frankly” where he told Stephen A. Smith “The more they invest in you the more they must insure your success. If you come cheap, you’re expendable. But, if you’re expensive, you’re valued”. No matter how controversial Stephen A. Smith’s ideas may be, his ability to debate has made him irreplaceable.
